Volunteering With Habitat For Humanity: Making A Difference In Our Communities

Recently, DLP Real Estate Capital team members, through the DLP Positive Returns Foundation, volunteered their time and talents helping to build homes with Habitat for Humanity. Twenty team members spent many hours throughout the week on the job site, located in Allentown, PA. Six homes are planned for local families to call home, all in different stages of construction and there was something for everyone to help with. It was a great day of team building and gratitude as DLP volunteers worked side by side with long time volunteers to get the homes ready for completion.

Gina Loiacono, Community Engagement Manager, Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley commented, “Habitat Lehigh Valley strives to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. At such an uncertain time in our society, the pandemic is disproportionately affecting low-income, hardworking families in our local community. Without the work of our CORE volunteers, we couldn’t help the families we do achieve their dream of homeownership. Volunteerism is the backbone of our organization…it’s about being part of something bigger…being part of something that’s completely other-centered. Love and empowerment is at the very core of what we do, and Habitat Lehigh Valley is truly a family that serves others.”

Don Wenner, founder & CEO of DLP Real Estate Capital commented, “The DLP Positive Returns Foundation’s mission is to significantly impact the affordable housing and jobs crises worldwide and specifically, in the communities where we live and work through a hand up approach. The Habitat for Humanity organization is a perfect fit for those efforts and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to help make a difference.”
